Starting from a very young, kids will imagine the type of partner that they could one day end up with. This is usually before any kind of first relationship or before there are any real feelings developing for someone. 

At this time, we create an entire fantasy of our «type.» This person is usually some kind of famous singer or surfer or something generally unreasonable to wish for. Once we realize this, our feelings and values evolve and we will meet someone that wasn’t that «dream» partner, but is exactly what we needed, ultimately. Other times, we end up meeting someone that has a lot of the qualities of that dream partner.
