Good news for those who hate winter: in a little over a month, the sun won’t set until 7 pm (or at least, that’s what some people on social media have been saying). January can be difficult for a lot of people, but one thing it is good at is getting us to cling to those few strands of hope about a time when it will be lighter and warmer.

However, often hope alone is not enough to keep us going when the going gets tough. This is part of the reason that memes exist, to give us a distraction from overthinking ourselves into an endless downward spiral. They can also help to perpetuate it, but we’re going to ignore that part. For our purposes, all we need to think about is how entertaining the funny pictures are. Failing that, they pass the time better than many other different things.
