My favorite thing about team sports was always the pre-game huddle where someone gives an inspirational speech. It was always a sort of motivational word salad that had very little substance but all the right energy. It would always sound something like, «Alright team. We’ve been working hard this season. You’ve been putting in the hours, and it shows. But none of that matters unless you’re showing up and giving it 100% every time you step on that field. The other team may look taller and stronger, but we’ve got heart, which counts for everything in this game.» 

Essentially nothing real has been said, but it whipped you into a frenzy and gotten the spirit up. It boosted morale.
