Happy Hump Day, everybody! Common sense tells us that we call Wednesday ‘Hump Day’ because we’re getting over the hump of the week, AKA Monday through Wednesday. Knowing that you only have the measly days of Thursday and Friday before a long, triumphant weekend is exciting, but it isn’t that exciting. It’s kind of like when people call Thursday «Friday Jr.» I appreciate the positive sentiment and all that, but it doesn’t take away the fact that we still have a whole day to get through before we arrive on Friday. «Thank God it’s Friday» makes much more sense than these little meaningless axioms we roll out to get us through the week. That’s why I love Tuesday. At least on Tuesday, nobody talks about how close the weekend is or complains that the weekend’s over. Everyone is just taking the day as it comes.
