Home for the holidays? Me, too. The drive was absolutely exhausting, but 4 coffees and 9 hours later, I’m here at my mother’s old Victorian house, enjoying the smell of scrumptious aromas and inevitable drama.

My siblings have yet to arrive, and because they have chosen interesting partners, there is bound to be some action at the dinner table tonight. My mom is busying herself, getting last-minute things ready. She’s quite the star, waltzing around in the apron I made her in the 3rd grade at a sewing class. Honestly, it’s kind of wholesome. I mean, it’s been a while. More than two decades, come to think of it.
