It can seem like a lot of the time we have, we like to waste. At any given moment, there are so many different things that we could be doing. Instead, we like to opt in to checking out our brains and flying the plane to Procrastination Land.

Often, this gets portrayed as a bad thing. When we’re not expected to be workers operating at peak productivity, we’re meant to be using our limited recovery time to better ourselves, or at least make sure we’re in halfway decent shape for work. There is no rest for the wicked, and sloth is one of the seven deadly sins.

This is why many of the times that we feel guilty for procrastinating, we should be able to let go of that feeling. Every so often, it’s almost like we’re doing something subversive. Nothing knows this better than memes, which aspire to be the best in both these areas. There isn’t anything lacking ambition about that.
