I have a little bit of a bone to pick with Mr. Forrest Gump. In the film adaptation of the 1986 novel, the titular dimwit remarks that «Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.» Um, false. While the banal sentiment may have been popular in the living room book clubs of suburban America, it simply doesn’t fly. If life were like a box of chocolates, I’d definitely be having more fun. But it’s not, and you know what? I do know what I’m going to get: A lot of boredom, a little money, and copious amounts of pain in the form of loss, heartbreak, responsibilities, and disappointment. Basically, it’s more like a box of sh*t. 

If you’re asking yourself «Who hurt her???» then you’re in for a treat. It’s not one person. It’s the overarching misery of being a «functioning» member of this ridiculous society.
