Sometimes, we don’t want our memes to be complicated. In these heady days of post-post-post ironic humor, it’s easy to get lost in a sea of content that is overly referential and bordering on incomprehensibly abstract. We often wish that we could just see a visually appealing joke, laugh at it, and let that be the end. Not these days, though! We have to trudge through a sea of weirdness instead.

Of course, there are still memes out there that appreciate the simple side of humor. It’s just that they’re likely to be served alongside things that are little more sophisticated (or dumb). Rolling with the punches is the best we can do, as with the examples of memes below. A taste of variety never hurt anyone, and it’s enough to make us grateful for the content that we truly enjoy. We’re choosing to see it as a true win-win situation.
