A Tennis Court Full of High-Intensity Memes

Everyone and their mama is talking about the movie Challengers, starring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor as three elite tennis players embroiled in a decade-spanning love triangle. It’s full of intense scenes of tennis playing, charged with not only the thrilling nature of the game but with the propulsive energy between the people playing it. And it’s soundtracked by a pretty far-out electronic, high BMP score that’s perfect for listening to when you need to lock in. And it’s got me thinking a lot about tennis. As Zendaya’s character says in the film, «tennis is a relationship.» It’s the push and pull between two people playing ball, and it becomes much more than that.

I wonder if the same could be said about memes. There are so many layers of creatorship when it comes to memes, that the interplay between them is almost as important as the meme itself. From the original in-context photo, to the meme maker, to the platform that hosts it, to me, the aggregator, to you. A nice little rally.
