It may have been said many times before, but it’s worth thinking about it again. We were born too late to explore the Earth, and too late to explore the galaxy, but we came along just in time to enjoy ourselves when it comes to memes. The fact that our collective eyeballs have been infiltrated by such a high concentration of «relatable», «dank», or «abstract» content produced in the name of humor means that we have all taken part in a bona fide communication revolution.

Is it stupid? Yes. Does it mean anything beyond being a symptom of our heavily ingrained screen addictions? It’s difficult to say. What we do know, though, is that our lives would be a hell of a lot more boring without obtaining our regular dose. That’s the reason that there’s so many memes out there, and that we keep looking for more. There’s nothing a little distraction can’t fix.
