Cringey Posts From Women Who Are «Not Like Other Girls’

As a woman, it can feel like I am not supposed to scrutinize the behavior of other women. Some people feel like calling each other out isn’t feminist – that we should reserve our judgments instead of taking others down a peg. But there’s some behavior that is so universally gross that I can’t be quiet – and you could argue that it’s more misogynistic than critiquing other women. I’m talking about people who flaunt that «not like other girls» attitude.

The «I’m not like other girls» schtick was pretty popular in high school. It would often come in the form of «I’m just one of the guys,» a sentiment that is usually used by women to differentiate themselves from others. These proclamations insinuate that other women are lacking in some way – that they’re simple. Newsflash, Becky: Liking stuff that is «basic» is fine. Starbucks can be delicious. And eating more than one slice of pizza in one sitting doesn’t make you special or «so crazy.»
