Reading is fundamental. At least it is through your schooling days, and then you have to force yourself to read without any external motivators. Every adult gets their reading from somewhere. Some people proudly abstain from reading books, but in my experience,  most of the adults who don’t read admit it with trepidation and embarrassment. Others get little nuggets of reading every day, like from billboards and bathroom graffiti. Not to judge, but that is the lowest common denominator of adult readers. I would know because I have been in that group. I know some adults who are still fully reading Harry Potter fanfiction on Archives of Our Own, and to that, I say, it’s better than nothing!
