‘Just use water instead’: American Slams UK Old El Paso for Selling ‘Extra Mild’ Fajita Kits, Continues the Transatlantic Food Wars

Here at Memebase, we are well aware that there are too many people who go on the internet and do terrible things. Unspeakable horrors happen on social media every day, but one of the most insufferable has to be when British people and Americans start arguing about food

While it might not be most wildly offensive thing in the world, good Lord it is annoying. Two countries with ego problems and who, if we’re being realistic, can both lay claim to some pretty distasteful cuisine make for the kind of discourse that makes you wonder if the invention of the English language was a mistake.

This time round, British people are being accused of two evergreen stereotypes: that they don’t like spicy food, and that their Mexican cooking is a crime against humanity. An American Twitter user stumbled upon a British advertisement for an ‘extra mild’ Old El Paso fajita kit, setting off a bomb of bad takes and heated opinions.

It’s fair to say that the Yanks were somewhat misinformed with this one, but the Brits were hyper vigilant in defending themselves. Here’s hoping that this controversy will stave off another transatlantic food argument for the first few months of 2024.
