I’m sure most of you reading this think that memes are a laughing matter. Memes are those funny little pictures that you send to your friends and family to try and get them to think you’re funny, and they can never be anything more than that. Well, I’m here to tell you that memes mean so much more to people than just a source for a cheap laugh. Memes are what give me the ability to buy a bottle of Diet Coke from the bodega every day. Memes are the food that feeds the people who want to laugh but don’t want to read a comedic novella or watch a 90-minute movie. They are the only reason my children (that I definitely have) have eaten for the past year and a half is that new memes are created every day.
