Parents Debate Whether Kids Should be Allowed to Order DoorDash to School

As time goes by, I begin to understand why certain rules were in place when I was a teenager. My high school had a rule against students with cars leaving campus to go get lunch, and at the time, it was super annoying. What’s the harm in driving three minutes to Sonic-Drive In and grabbing a chili cheese dog just to immediately come back to campus for Physics class? The issue with that isn’t that one student is going off campus: it’s that if it was explicitly allowed, 50 or more students would be going off campus for lunch, the parking lot would be a disaster, and there’s no way to account for whether that student is safe during that time when the school is technically responsible for their well-being. Even though it felt unfair at the time, the rule was in place for a good reason.

A teenager recently went viral with a screenshot of his mom saying she’s fighting back against his high school’s rule that students can’t order DoorDash. Parents and former students shared their opinions on this matter, many of them against students ordering delivery to school.
