The Best Dungeons & Dragons Memes of the Week (August 25, 2023)

In a quiet suburban neighborhood, tucked between two perfectly pruned pin oaks, lived a young accountant named Dan. Dan was an average pleb who once had a taste for adventure, but somewhere along the way, he fully succumbed to a life of routine. Although he was grateful for his comfortable life, the steady cycle of alarm clocks, cubicles, and coffee breaks inevitably got to him. «Isn’t there anything more?» he’d ask himself and sigh while staring at the clock at work.

One evening, Dan received an unexpected text from his childhood best friend, Steve. The text read: «You, me, and the old gang. Saturday night at my place. 7PM. I’m starting a new D&D campaign. LFG.» Full of nervous excitement and slight reluctance, Dan paced around his minimalist one bedroom apartment before finally agreeing. «I’m in» he texted.

Dan spent the rest of the work week buzzing with anticipation. His coworkers were confused, because usually Dan was so boring and drowsy. Saturday evening finally arrived, and Dan found himself and old pals seated around a table cluttered with dice, character sheets, and homemade figurines. The room buzzed with excitement as Steve, the Dungeon Master, cleared his throat and began to describe a sprawling, mystical realm called Gregoria. Dan’s character, a hunky tiefling warlock named Smeagore Nightshade, took his first steps into the wondrous world of Gregoria. And from there, Dan’s world turned upside-down.

Because of Dungeons & Dragons, never again was Dan left wanting for more. He had his comfortable little life between two perfectly pruned pin oaks, and he also had limitless adventure and whimsy with old friends—the best of both worlds. Dan lived happily ever after.
