Dr. Dolittle is one lucky dog. That man can talk to the animals, and nobody bats an eye. He has been portrayed by Rex Harrison, Eddie Murphy, and Robert Downy Jr. Clearly, when they were casting these movies, they said, «Non-legends need not apply.» Only the most advanced actors can sniff a high school principal’s butt, throw a seal in period costuming into the sea, or do whatever he did in the 2020 version that flopped. Sorry RDJ. 

The closest thing we mere mortals have to talking to the animals is hanging out with them and getting to know their quirks. The second closest thing is taking a leisurely scroll through various animal memes.
