When you are a kid, it’s easy to look at a 9-5 like it’s a constrictive indicator of a boring life. They can’t understand how somebody who goes to work every day, does the same thing, and goes home can possibly be happy. When you’re young, adult life can sound like an escape from the rigid routines and expectations of being a kid: no school, nobody tells you what to do, and no laws saying you can’t go to the 21+ discotheque. 9-5s imitate the schedule of school, and for that reason I understand why a 16 year old would find them unappealing. 

If you’ve lived a little, you know that having a stable consistent job is a major blessing that many people do not have. When a video of a middle class mans daily routine went viral, many people rushed to defend the quality of his seemingly «boring life.»
