It’s hard to believe it, but 2024 marks over twenty whole years since the last installment of Peter Jackson interpreting J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless novels hit our screens. By this point, it was already obvious that these movies had made their mark on 21st century pop culture, but little did most people know that they were going to maintain their relevance in the most pervasive way known to the modern man.

That’s right, once the box office hits were said and done the world of Lord of the Rings became a dominant force in the world of memes. It’s a development that shows no signs of slowing down, either. Not only does it keep the legacy of Tolkien alive, but it also proves that his fans have the best sense of humor. One thing’s for sure, nobody could have imagined that memes would become such an important part of this fandom.
