‘We as Americans need to address our allergic reaction to walking’: U.S. Tourist Goes to Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Gets Roasted for Complaining About Traveling There

Only about 37% of Americans have a passport. In 2023, it seems like most of these privileged few are flaunting the benefits of it on TikTok. For You pages get inundated with travelogues and recommendations at this time of year, and none seem to be more popular than mainland Europe.

It’s not hard to see why; the food, the culture, and the pretty views are worth dropping thousands of dollars on, if you can afford it. However, it’s important to into this whole vacationing abroad business with some expectation management. When you go to another continent, they’re going to do things differently. Also, you need to do your research.

This last point was something that one wannabe influencer ignored recently, after she took to social media to complain about her trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Her complaint was that the scenic area was a lot harder to travel to than she had expected. It wasn’t long before she started to receive backlash for her entitled attitude, not least because she didn’t even have to carry her own bags. She isn’t exactly helping the USA’s international reputation
