A big animal meme has been sweeping the nation over the past month, and it doesn’t even involve a living animal. The fossilized imprint of a rodent’s body in the concrete of a Chicago sidewalk has become the object of intense fanfare after it went viral on Twitter in early January. It was dubbed «The Rat Hole» and has gone from being a funny novelty that neighbors might comment upon to being a bonafide tourist destination. 

As a rule, people love rats and rat memes. They’ve been so maligned in society for so long, and they deserve their day in the sun as far as memes are concerned.
