I wonder if the proliferation of Star Wars memes has had any bearing on the success of the franchise as a whole, and the amount of spinoffs, sequels, and prequels we’ve been blessed with. I’m sure this is true to an extent. The more a fanbase engages with its content, the more it’s going to stay in people’s heads. The more fan theories that circulate, the more they’re going to yearn for new storylines. The more stills that get memed, the more memorable the scenes become. I suppose this is marketing 101. Get the kids to make memes, and you’ll be a rich man. It’s a win-win, though, because we love memes.
