Parenting is an Olympic-level sport. It requires great feats of stamina, engineering, and functioning on as little sleep as humanly possible. I don’t think anyone would say it’s easy unless you have a team of nannies and a fleet of housekeepers. Even then, they will come up to you and say «Mommy, where do babies come from?» And you’ll be brought to your knees. 

You know who makes it look easy? Mrs. Doubtfire. Somehow putting on that disguise turned Robin Williams into the perfect caretaker. Maybe that’s the key. Pretending that you are somebody else– an old British woman perhaps. Old British women seem to know things about parenting that the rest of us don’t. That and old Southern women. I usually feel safe in the care of an old Southern woman. So the next time you’re struggling to Mom at a 10, put on a dowdy frock and try a goofy accent. It’ll at least distract them for a while.
