It’s pretty wild how much brain power we use even when we’re not trying very hard. Our minds are always trying to find links and draw conclusions, and few things exemplify this better than the phenomenon of pareidolia. Finding human faces in inanimate objects is one of those things that sounds ludicrous in principle, but it’s a near-universal experience for most. 

We could call it evolutionary instinct, or just wishful thinking. Either way, finding faces in things is something that is very common. In fact, it’s so common that it seems difficult to avoid. The examples below are only a small offering of what the wonderful world of pareidolia provides, but they are nonetheless entertaining.
