Welcome back, fellow nerds. Hope you all had a spaced-out weekend. I happened to stay in and lazily lounge around watching episodes of Black Mirror and Foundation for two days straight. For me, there are few greater pleasures in life than binge watching entertaining sci-fi on a rainy day. I didn’t think I’d like the Foundation TV series—only because I loved the books so much as a teenager and will inevitably harshly scrutinize any adaptation attempting to live up to Asimov’s masterpieces—but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s by no means a perfect adaptation, and it’s a bit complicated and hard to follow at first, but the show does a pretty good job bringing Asimov’s Galactic Empire to life. As for Black Mirror, what’s with the horror vibes in season 6? Is the show sneakily shifting away from prescient sci-fi about the dangers of technology and entering its Twilight Zone era? Whatever is happening, I’m kind of here for it.
