Sometimes memes get a bad reputation. It’s not hard to see why. To some, they’re considered a pedestrian form of entertainment. Relatable. Too relatable. Some people thumb their nose at them, writing them off as a giant time suck – an enemy of productivity, an escape from reality and a mind-numbing past time. They don’t see the good side of memes. While it’s true that they can reel you in and help you waste time, that’s not always a bad thing. And for every basic, dumb meme, there are probably .5 clever memes. Or something like that. We don’t know the actual conversion rate here, it’s just a guess. What we’re trying to say is that some memes take some serious creativity and wit. They’re almost artistic. And shouldn’t we be appreciating and celebrating the creative efforts of our fellow humans? If you’re not convinced that memes can be a benevolent force, well, maybe we’re failures.
