A Smash and Grab of Looted Memes

On an internet that has long been the playground of a handful of powerful tech companies, it’s nice to feel like we’re out here taking some of the power back with memes. Each taken on their own, they may be pretty inconsequential, but as a whole they allow us to find our voice in a way that it can be hard to express otherwise. It would be dumb to pretend that every ridiculous little image macro is a concrete act of rebellion, but they do operate in a way that brings us more novelty in our lives. Almost as easy to create as they are to relate to, it’s hard to imagine many of us communicating these thoughts in any other way these days. While all the sh*tposting may take its toll eventually, we owe it to ourselves to enjoy the moment, and keep on creating, consuming, and spreading the memes.
