A Swag Bag of Stolen Memes

Few things in this world are original, and nowhere is this more true than in memes. The average meme gets stolen countless times over before it is relegated to the internet graveyard. Add to that the endless recycling of formats, ideas, and relatable principles, and we get things repeated over and over again. No matter how much NFTs wanted to make it different, memes are made to be stolen. It’s a big part of what makes them such an accessible form of entertainment. We wouldn’t have been exposed to many of the memes that we have seen throughout our lives if they weren’t persistently reposted in different places, and by different people. This thievery is all part of how the system works, even if it is slightly chaotic. It gives a lot of memes a lifespan they wouldn’t otherwise have, and that is something to be thankful for, if they’re a kind that we enjoy.
