Listening to the way that some people speak, it would seem like the greatest parents are the ones that don’t even have kids. One of the worst nightmares of those that are actually raising children is that holier-than-thou person who wants to tell you how much better they are going to be when they have your job.

The truth is, parenthood is one of the ultimate shocks to the system when it comes to expectations vs. reality. You can have all the well meaning, gentle parenting intentions in the world, but it’s guaranteed that your kid will test these to the limit with some of the things that they do. 

This has been underlined in a recent Twitter thread, in which parents bemoaned all the sanctimonious things that nonparents love to say about how they would raise their children. If they do end up having kids, they’ll be on the receiving end of some serious karma.
