Of all the strange, inventive, and tribal ways that we have come up with to speak on the internet, few have been as iconic as the humble greentext. This stunted and socially inept form of online speech has produced some of the most legendary stories and memes over the years, to the extent that even those who have never set foot in the murky depths of 4chan know what to expect when confronted with a screenshot in that unflattering color scheme. 

Those of us who are particularly jaded by the internet feel like we know what to expect from a greentext by now — so much so, in fact, that we now have the technology to recreate them with AI. The things that this artificial intelligence has managed to spew out are pretty faithful to the real deal, while also adding that uncanny element of surprise. Half the sh*tposters out there are almost like robots, anyway.
