I am not one of those adults who is obsessed with my birthday. I respect the grind of people who make their entire birthday month their personality, but that could never be me. I like getting attention, but I like getting attention best when it’s earned. Me turning another year older is not an accomplishment. It’s an excuse to throw a house party, and that’s good enough for me. 

There are some adults who want their birthday to be a very specific way and will get upset if it’s not that way. I think that’s fine if the demands they’re making are reasonable. A story recently went viral on Twitter about a boyfriend who asked his girlfriend to make a specific cake on his birthday. Instead, she made a slightly different cake with different frosting. He was upset about it, and she got upset that he was upset. Twitter is incredibly divided about who was in the wrong here, and I’m sure y’all will be too.
