Listen. Summer might be approaching in the Southern hemisphere, but up here in the North, we’ve got a lot of seasonal delights to celebrate. There’s Halloween (or ‘Spooky Season‘ as some refer to it), pumpkin spice lattes, and eventually a Thanksgiving feast. Everyone loves the feeling of crunchy leaves under their feet, and the slight tinge of excitement that comes with a chill in the air. My favorite thing about the fall, however, is that it is finally acceptable to eat soup for every meal. That’s right, it’s SOUP SEASON, mfers, and I couldn’t be happier. 

You see, soup is a versatile food, and more importantly, a comforting one. The creamy white bean and escarole soup I made last night was basically comfort in a bowl, and the friends I was dining with went for seconds and thirds. There’s just something about a warm, soothing bowl of hearty (or even a light vegetable soup) soup that makes it feel like everything is going to be okay. While there are definitely some soup haters out there (I’m looking at you, Aunt Melanie), the real ones know where it’s at. And they’re hard at work, celebrating soup with memes and tweets.
