A nice, peaceful working area is essential for productivity. People feel so much more inspired when they’re in space that makes me feel calm and safe. In many ways, we are like fish in a fish tank. We’re happy to be confined as long as there’s clean water, some interesting plants, and cool multicolored rocks at the bottom of the tank. It sounds silly, but the office environment really goes a long way. And it’s not that hard to provide. A nice, comfortable chair, a sense of privacy, and some non-oppressive lighting is all it takes. 

But employers like to push the envelope of what they can get away with these days, and this recent Reddit post is a surefire example of that. Not only is the whole setup offensive, but the way that this employee gets treated in it is even worse. Read on and be grateful you don’t work in the same office.
