‘We NEED human connection’: Opportunistic App Developers Get Roasted for Announcing AI Girlfriend App

It’s no news to anybody that romantic relationships just seem more difficult these days. Dating apps now seem to be the best bet when it comes to finding love, but they don’t seem to make it easy. On top of that, those who do find somebody to couple up with may find that trying to maintain that bond will end up being more trouble than it’s worth

As a result, an increasing number of singletons are foregoing the world of conventional dating —and some are turning to technology to fill the void. Earlier this year, users of the AI companionship app Replika revolted when the developers decided to ban their bots from engaging in NSFW chat, and it seems like a replacement for that is just around the corner.

Digi was announced on Twitter earlier this week as «the future of AI romantic companionship», along with a short promo video of an example AI girlfriend. It didn’t take long for people to voice their criticisms. They didn’t hold back, and it’s not difficult to see why. Is normal socializing really so difficult that we need an alternative?
