I remember the first time I ever watched the 1957 Sidney Lumet classic 12 Angry Men. I was in my high school Speech class, and instead of dedicating the entire class period to us watching this movie, my teacher just put it on while we did other work and talked. Naturally, I didn’t really get much from this viewing experience, if you can even call it that. I can’t think of a worse way to convince kids to want to watch this movie. It makes it look like the most boring movie ever. 

Luckily, that was not the first and last time I saw that movie. I watched it in full for the first time last September, and now I really understand why it’s lauded as one of the best films of all time. There’s been a recent uptick in 12 Angry Men-posting on Twitter, and these tweets make me want to rewatch it all over again.
