One thing that makes me glad that I don’t own my own home is that I’m not held responsible for most of the repairs it might need. That’s a landlord problem, through and through. On the other hand, it also makes me frustratingly limited with what I can do with the fun stuff, i.e. home decor. Sometimes all a homebody needs to be happy is a pricey kitchen remodel, but it’s fairly difficult to convince the person you’re paying rent to that this is worthwhile (not without hiking up the price of the place, that is).

Of course, there are plenty of things you can do with interior design that are minimally invasive and also happen to put a real stamp on the place. From my bedroom in my student dorm to my numerous shared houses and apartments, I’ve always taken pride in that side of things. While they might not be quite as inspiring as a Pinterest board, memes are here to aid in this process. Who needs therapy when you can just buy another plant?
