When you’re trying to cook up something delicious from a recipe that you found on the internet, there is every chance that what Ms. Perfect Food Blogger considers a pantry staple is most normal peoples’ idea of an arduous trip to the fancy store. 

As such, it’s no surprise that the comment sections of online recipes are filled with people who are trying to find alternative methods for the meal of their dreams. Maybe it’s the hanger or perhaps we’re all just quite dumb, because often these substitutions are none too clever. 

That’s before we even get onto the accusations that happen when things go wrong, or the excess of information that some seem to enjoy providing. We may complain about the longwinded story we have to scroll past to get to the recipe, but what about the responses to it? That’s where the real ridiculousness lies.
