I feel like the coolest person at the bar is usually the bartender because they have what everyone wants. They hold all the power and look sick while doing so. Every time I’ve tried to order a drink at a crowded bar, I feel like the schmuck of the century, trying to angle my body in the right position, using eye contact to little avail. And don’t get me started on the hand signals. Perfecting the right half-hand raise that attracts attention but doesn’t look goofy is a skill best left to others. 

Of course, being a bartender is not all glamour. Heck, it’s not mostly glamour. It’s a lot of cleaning, recipe-following, and dealing with drunk frat boys trying to pay for 12 tequila shots on 13 different cards.
