Theatre kids never seem to grow up. At least, that’s the reputation a lot of theatre adults have gotten, and it’s not entirely wrong. I myself am extremely guilty of telling people the number of times I did Seussical (I did it three times in 5 years, and I played The Cat in the Hat, Mrs. Mayor, and Gertrude McFuzz, but notably never Amazing Mayzie…). When I was in college, I tried my best to shut up about my musical theatre childhood as much as possible, but after I moved to New York City, it seemed to come up way more than ever before. To all of y’all who were Tevye in your high school production of Fiddler on the Roof, I say rejoice! This beautiful art form has touched so many of our lives in a positive way, so why hide it? If you’re a theatre kid, theatre adult, or theatre zygote, these theatre memes will be as electrifying as performing on a Broadway stage.
