I was a bug child. I wouldn’t say I spent the majority of my childhood playing outside, but when I did, it was to hang out with the little buggies. I had a butterfly net and a bug collector, and I used the latter with great frequency. I never really understood butterfly nets because they could easily fly away seconds after getting caught. With my bug collectors, I was able to rule over my own domain of worms and rolly pollies that would meet their demise sooner rather than later. I distinctly remember taking a glass cup from the kitchen, filling it with dirt, sticking a worm in there, and being shocked when he died days later. It’s a good thing that I didn’t take my tyranny further than my backyard, doing only minimal environmental damage. If you’ve killed fewer bugs than I have, these animal memes are just perfect.
