Ah, the dice. The friend of the DM, the occasional foe of the player. We’ve all been played by dice before. It’s interesting that chance remains a part of one of the most beloved games of all time. Because chance has a role in everyday life. You don’t have control over the weather, over what you’re feeling like that day, which way the wind is blowing, and just how things are going to go. You can strategize all day long and still be foiled by a stroke of bad luck. 

That’s why I appreciate a good dice roll. It’s like gambling. You should do your work, learn the game, and try your best not to mess it up, but at the end of the day, it’s in the hands of the gods. And I think that’s a beautiful thing. Almost as beautiful as this fresh batch of Dungeons and Dragons memes.
