It would do us some good to remember that out of all the periods of human history, we had the good luck to exist at the same time as meme culture. Sure, this also came with bad bits of 21st century society, like global warming, or MrBeast. However, unlike the olden days we can distract ourselves from these manmade horrors by gazing at funny pictures on the internet.

Here at Memebase, we like to see that as a good thing. It would be a sorry state of affairs if we were as cynical about it as we are about almost everything else. Memes are a free and accessible gift from a bunch of creative strangers which it makes perfect sense to take advantage of. Just like giving a great present, it’s a win-win situation for everyone. The only difference is that nobody ends up poorer, or so we would hope.
