One of the best things about having a dog is the way they greet you when you get home. It’s like you’re a soldier coming from war, finally reaching your hometown for a well-earned rest and a slice of apple pie. And your dog is your toddler child who doesn’t quite grasp time well enough to know that you weren’t going to be gone forever. Don’t they say that dogs have no sense of object permanence, so when you’re gone, they think you’re gone forever? That makes my heart sad if true. But we do usually come back, and it makes their year. And we get to feel like heroes. The cycle continues.
