Baggage Handler Costs Airline Thousands After They Refuse To Pay Extra Hourly Rate

While the mythical work/life balance is the thing that most of us are always striving for, it’s important to have at least some job satisfaction in the work that you do. Considering how much of our time is spent doing it, it’s only fair that we get recognized for our efforts, too.

Unfortunately, this isn’t always what ends up happening. No matter how hard we work or how much we deserve more, there are plenty of companies and supervisors out there who are all too happy to short-change us.

This was something that u/nmcade ended up on the receiving end of in their job as a baggage handler, when a supervisor asked them to take on a higher position during a shift, but refused to pay them the hourly rate that came along with the added responsibilities.

In response, they refused to take on the extra work, which ended up causing a commotion on the airfield. The lesson here is that if you want someone to play a particular role, you’ve got to make it pay —  otherwise you will.
