Captivating Thread Explores All The Crappiest Examples Of Staged Family Photos In Movies

Props and set design are the kind of often overlooked thing that make or break even the simplest of movies. Most of the time, when we’re seeing something on the big (or small) screen, we expect a lot more visual stimulation than some dude on an empty stage with a skull in his hand, doing his best Hamlet.

For the most part, those who produce films, TV shows and more have a good understanding of this. A huge amount of many production budgets is sunk into producing the perfect scenery, and this isn’t always an easy task. What could amount to two seconds of footage can take hours upon hours of agonizing planning, although this doesn’t always produce the most amazing results.

An example of this that can be humorously common is prop photography. Family pictures are an important part of many series and movies for plot development, scene setting, or even just fleeting emotional moments. All too often, though, the Photoshop skills that are invested in them don’t seem to be up to scratch. This has been highlighted in a hilarious thread by @JustinGerber7, which reflects on some of the most uncanny examples of movie photos gone wrong.

As if that wasn’t enough, people put forward a few case studies of awkward promotional posters and CGI for good measure. We all know that everyone has off days at work, but they’re not always immortalized like these are.
