It’s unfortunate, but it’s true: much of life is based upon first impressions, and some count more than others. Job interviews, first dates and public speaking all rely on us bringing our personality A game, but arguably they can all pale in importance to one of the most nerve wracking firsts of all. Meeting the parents of your significant other can be what makes or breaks a blossoming relationship, and can all but guarantee problems further down the line if you manage to trip up somehow. 

It’s not uncommon to trip up in a situation like this, but usually it happens once you’ve actually met the family members in question. This was not the case for one man, who was recorded badmouthing the father of his girlfriend before realizing that the dad had a doorbell camera that had captured the insult in its entirety. Although the video doesn’t show what happened afterwards, viewers had a pretty good idea that things probably didn’t end well. If you can’t say anything nice, then make sure there isn’t a camera out there to capture it.
