Call me a killjoy, but I’ve never understood the appeal of competitive eating. It is an insult to one of life’s greatest pleasures, which is the leisurely enjoyment of a good meal. Also, it seems like a gluttonous waste of food whether everything gets eaten or not. 

Anyway, it’s not like this has ever stopped the countless individuals who decide to put their stomachs to the test with borderline sadistic menu items from restaurants looking for an easy gimmick. There are plenty of examples of this out there, but one that has been given a lot of viral attention recently is the ‘Chilli Challenge’ at The Cattleman’s Steakhouse in the UK. 

Not too long ago, a man called Martin attempted to take on this monster meal. The results of his efforts were shared with TikTok, and the rest is history. While many viewers were astounded at how little he ate, others sympathized. Maybe he just didn’t prep for it.
