I get bummed out sometimes that animals will never be capable of language like humans are. I can already hear y’alls little fact-checking comments going, «How can animals not have language? Koko the gorilla could speak in completely sentences.» Well, let me be clear, I’m not saying that all animals are incapable of using sign language or even spoken language i.e. parrots. However, they cannot use grammar, which is the most important part of being able to speak a language. If you know a bunch of words in Spanish but can’t string them together to form sentences that would make sense to a native Spanish speaker, then you can’t speak Spanish. Animals can use words but can’t create grammatically coherent sentences. This is the longest sentence a gorilla has ever said in sign language, and as you can see, it’s not the most sophisticated. 

«Give orange me give eat orange me eat orange give me eat orange give me you.»

Just because animals can’t speak, doesn’t mean they can’t communicate. If I were a bird, dog, or cat, I would be able to tell you to enjoy these animal memes without saying it out loud, but since I’m a silly person, I guess I have to use complex sentences instead. Enjoy!
