The Funniest Disney Memes of the Week (December 17, 2023)

Y’all…it’s about to happen. Mickey Mouse, or at least the Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse, is about to hit the public domain. For those not in the know, when a book, character, or movie is in the public domain, anybody can use it because the copyright was either not renewed or expired. If you saw the trailer for the movie Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey and were confused as to why Disney would allow that to happen, it’s because the copyright for the original Winnie The Pooh books expired, so anyone can do anything with that character (as long as he doesn’t resemble the Disney version too closely) without getting sued! I, for one, cannot for the gritty Steamboat Willie shipwreck adventure movie.

Luckily, memes are not subject to the stringent copyright laws that movies are held to. We will be sharing Disney memes about characters that won’t go into the public domain until the next century, including these memes right here.
