Let’s put it this way: we all need a break, now and then! The internet is the perfect outlet for this, what with it being so easily accessible, and low effort enough to pretend that that you really will put your phone down after this one last Facebook video of an abandoned stray cat being rescued. Memes are part and parcel of this whole deal, and they’re perhaps one of the most seductive things about it, too. One meme doesn’t take that much time to look at. An endless stream of them, meanwhile, is a different matter. At this point, we’re in too deep to really care.
